Braywood 2nds began their 2011 campaign with a tough fixture against Englefield 1sts under clear blue skies and unseasonable warmth at the Turnbull ground. The start of the season also marked a couple of changes. Restructuring of the Chiltern League meant that they would now be playing in Division 4 with newly appointed captain Keith Oswald at the helm.
His first task as Captain was to lose the toss, and on a pitch that looked like it offered something for everyone, the Englefield captain decided to field. Braywood’s experienced openers Russell and West got off to a solid start picking up numerous 1's and 2's, as well as the odd boundary. 56 was put on for the first wicket before Russell was bowled by Cason for 22. Singh came to the wicket and immediately made his intention clear by hitting two quick boundaries. Steady progress was made until West was out LBW for 39, Phillips quickly followed by running himself out and Braywood were 108 for 3.The arrival of new batsman Tom Bryant, saw him and Singh put on an excellent stand of 104 and by the time Singh was out for 65 Braywood were in the decent position. After the 52 Overs they had made 238 for the loss of 6 wickets, Bryant remained not out on 64, with him and Singh anchoring what seemed like a par score.
